Stanley Cup Final Game 5: Hurricanes beat Golden Knights 4-2 to take a 3-2 lead, one win from the Cup

Carolina Hurricanes 4, Vegas Golden Knights 2 in Game 5 at Lenovo Center Thursday, the Hurricanes' most complete game of the Final, putting them up 3-2 and one win from their first championship since 2006. Jordan Staal opened the scoring (his sixth goal of the series), Andrei Svechnikov buried two power-play goals as Vegas lost its discipline, and Sebastian Aho added his first of the series; rookie Brandon Bussi made 21 of 23 for his second straight win since taking over the net. Carter Hart allowed four on an .833 night. Carolina can clinch in Game 6 Saturday in Las Vegas, or in a Game 7 back in Raleigh; our model now gives the Hurricanes about 80% to win the Cup. Our pre-game reads went two of three: the Carolina moneyline cashed and the under 6.5 hit at six goals, while our top goalscorer pick Seth Jarvis did not score. NBA: the Knicks lead 3-1 with Game 5 Saturday.
