Our best week of the season: the leans finished 13-1-1 and the best bets went a clean 3-0, with the 49ers, both unders, and a run of home dogs all cashing. See the full Week 5 card →
The three we like most
A note before the leans: we do not run a probability model for the NFL. These are editorial reads. The through-line is the one that carried last week, that the value tends to sit with points and totals rather than with laying inflated numbers, and this week that points us at two big home favorites worth fading and the lowest total on the board.
The lowest total on the board, and for good reason: a stumbling Eagles offense against a Carolina team that grinds. Lean under. Final: Panthers 25, Eagles 14.
Nearly two touchdowns is a lot to lay anywhere; big double-digit favorites cover at a poor rate, so take the points with the road dog. Final: Cardinals 18, Rams 16.
Eight and a half in a division game is a gift; AFC West rivals tend to keep it close, so take the Chargers and the points. Final: Chiefs 22, Chargers 6.
Every Week 6 game, with a lean
The full board below. Each line shows the spread and total, then our one-sentence read. Where we do not have a strong angle, the lean reflects the default of taking points and leaning under.
A home underdog getting points in a defensive matchup is our kind of spot, and Denver delivered outright.
A near coin flip on a neutral field in London; we will take the points with the road side.
A road favorite laying barely more than a hook; take the home dog and the points.
Tennessee has been one of the least productive offenses in the league, which makes the under the cleaner read even with Indy rolling at home.
The lowest total on the board, and for good reason: a stumbling Eagles offense against a Carolina team that grinds. Lean under.
Seven and a half is a lot to lay against any NFL team; the Jets are live to keep this within a touchdown.
A low total and a Cleveland offense that has struggled to move the ball; the under fits better than either side.
A near pick-em with the road team favored; we will take the home dog and the point and a half.
Tampa Bay has been scrappier than its record, winning with a backup quarterback; the home points are worth taking.
Nearly two touchdowns is a lot to lay anywhere; big double-digit favorites cover at a poor rate, so take the points with the road dog.
A high total with the Bills offense driving it; lean over in a game Buffalo should be able to score in.
Eight and a half in a division game is a gift; AFC West rivals tend to keep it close, so take the Chargers and the points.
Two of the higher totals on the slate for a reason; Dallas games keep going over, so lean over here.
San Francisco is the better team, but seven and a half on Monday night is steep; take the points with the visitor.
