Sports betting in Oklahoma
Sports betting is not legal in Oklahoma, one of 11 holdout states, despite one of the largest tribal gaming industries in the country. The most recent bill, HB 1047, passed the state House but died in the Senate 21-27 in April 2026 amid a long-running dispute over tribal exclusivity. Supporters expect a stronger push in 2027 once term-limited Governor Kevin Stitt, the main obstacle, leaves office.
Not Currently Legal
Sports betting is not currently legal in Oklahoma. Residents and visitors cannot place legal sports wagers within the state. Any sportsbook claiming to operate in Oklahoma without a state license is operating illegally. These offshore sites offer no consumer protections and you should avoid them.
Legal Alternatives
If you are traveling to a state where sports betting is legal, you can download a licensed sportsbook app before your trip and use it while physically present in the legal state. Always verify your location requirements before placing any bets.
- HB 1047; Legalize retail and online sports betting through state tribes. (Defeated by the Oklahoma Senate 21-27 in April 2026.)
With HB 1047 defeated in April 2026, the 2026 session is done. The bigger shift is the calendar: term-limited Governor Stitt leaves office in January 2027, removing the central veto threat. A Choctaw Nation executive put 2027 legalization at 68% at the SBC Summit; the spread of untaxed prediction markets adds pressure to act. The model still has to clear a turned-over Senate, but 2027 is the most realistic shot yet.
